Sophie started dancing at the age of 4 and studied a variety of styles including ballet, jazz and contemporary. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Dance) in 2012 and thought of herself as a contemporary dancer - until she discovered pole in 2017 and it took over her life! She started lyra the following year to add to her aerial repertoire. In addition to her contemporary, lyra and pole experience, Sophie is also a registered yoga teacher. She loves helping her students gain alignment and anatomy awareness to get past fear and limiting beliefs, and approaches her teaching from a place of humour and with a goal to make movement fun and accessible to every body.

Melissa has been a student of Pole Divas Moonee Ponds for 4 years after wanting to get fit, have some much need time to herself post babies and wanting to try something new. Being a former dancer, she started off as a casual Pole Moves class lover which rekindled her love of dance, then decided to challenge herself with the Beginner courses. She quickly fell in love with the incredible MOPO team, community, the challenge, the self-expression, the effect dancing and progressing in a new passion had on her physical and mental health and before she knew it, she was knee deep in every class they had to offer. Mel was selected as Student Ambassador for 2020 and as her tenure ended, we decided to hire her so she wouldn't ever leave us.
"I owe so much to Pole Divas and it is an honour to be a part of this team and community. I love being a small part of our student's journey, especially meeting and witnessing brand new student falling in love with pole and overcoming fears, anxiety and inhibitions. It is such a beautiful, fulfilling role and I love seeing so many beautiful smiling faces walk through the door each day."

Kate
(DESK DIVA)
What do you love most about being a Desk Diva?Getting to know the students and watching them go from that nervous/ excited, slightly scared look when they first walk in, to exhilaration after they start nailing tricks and ultimately watching them fall in love with Pole & our community. Watching students grow in their personal confidence, and having even a small part of that is so rewarding.
What is your favourite casual, course or workshop? Exotica. I love being able to leave all inhibitions at the door & just completely embrace my sexuality in this class. And it’s not for anyone but ME! I also love how physically challenging it is to not only nail the routine, but the style of making it “appear” effortless.
