What made you want to start classes at Pole Divas and/or Aerial Divas?
I was invited by my daughter Clarissa to a Christmas show at the studio and was amazed at the participants and how strong they were and how great they were performing expressive dancing through pole. I admit l was intrigued. I thought “Wow” all the girls showed their strength and ability and all different age groups.
Well when they announced a special for new people wanting to join, l thought yes l must give this a go and I haven’t looked back, and I’ve had the most fun and support over the years.
How has Divas transformed or changed your life?
My own pole journey started at a time when I needed another challenge. Although l enjoyed going to the gym, I discovered being a pole Diva has made me physically stronger and incredibly empowering as a woman. I am stronger in other emotional ways and feel more able to deal with what life throws at you.
It’s also given me the opportunity to do classes with Clarissa which has made us closer and at times we have been very competitive and challenging with each other. Who thought l could do the scorpion or spider climbs! No one here judges you and sometimes there’s anger, frustration, tears, hugs, and giggles from start to finish but once you can do the tricks, routines, and combo’s it’s a great feeling of achievement. All the teachers have been very supportive and very patient with me and my learning and I’m so grateful to each one of you. A big Thanks
What is your Diva story?
It’s a way of staying younger in both body and mind and challenging yourself to being comfortable with who you are and your abilities. The people l’ve meet in class is a fantastic grounding for good friendships based on trust and honesty in a supportive environment.
Being a Pole Diva has certainly made me a better person and reinforces the message that age is no barrier and I’ll keep trying to improve my skills and sharing the many pics and videos on what l’ve done with friends so they can see that anyone can be a Pole Diva.
Clarissa has been there for me and every week supports me to do better and doing something together with your daughter is a wonderful and beautiful experience.
What’s life like being a Divas student and a mum?
Has been rewarding and fun doing classes together and sharing our story on our achievements. It’s the high fives when we / l get the routine right and our time as a team bringing fond cherished memories.
It’s also setting an example that age is no barrier and l look forward to going to class every week and challenging myself.
Mmmm maybe we can even do a mother/daughter routine together one day!!!
